Celebrating Pride Month At 98É«»¨ÌÃ
/Pride month is a time for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies to come together in solidarity to celebrate and embrace identity.
We understand that support and acceptance of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression directly impacts mental wellness and, often, personal safety. Unfortunately, LGBTQIA+ individuals frequently face discrimination, making it difficult to access quality treatment for mental illness. In 2020, a national survey of LGBTQIA+ youth conducted by The Trevor Project revealed that 40% have seriously contemplated suicide in the past 12 months, and that nearly 70% have reported symptoms of anxiety. These are complex experiences that require services that encompass a holistic view of each person as an individual.
We at 98É«»¨Ìà recognize and respect our LGBTQIA+ colleagues and clients; we welcome the opportunity to learn from one another as we continue our efforts to reduce stigma and increase access to quality mental health services.
By rallying and showing support during Pride Month, LGBTQIA+ individuals and allies have an opportunity to express themselves, advocate for change, support friends and loved ones, and create welcoming spaces.
While we work towards a safer and happier future for everyone, there are many resources available for LGBTQIA+ people that we encourage you to share.
